Malang as a Flower City

Image
Malang is known as a flower city . That “was” true. Nowadays, Malang is more known as educational city as there are many universities here. If you want to find flowers, then I recommend Batu . If you have already in Malang, you should visit Batu. There you will find many beautiful flower plantations. Maybe because Batu –as a place where flowers in Malang come from- had been a part of Malang, while Malang is bigger than Batu, then Malang “was” called as a flower city. This is only my assumption then. Now it depends to the Malang’s government and its citizen to reconstruct Malang, whether to let it to be a different kind of city, or go back to what the world has known about it, as a city of flower. As other Indonesian city, Malang also has Aloon-aloon, or Alun-alun in Indonesian, as a place for people to gather and enjoy their time. Alun-alun Malang also serves that function. Do you know how the Malang’s Alun-alun becomes so popular for the Dutch? There is a book entitled “...

The Erasing of Short Visit Visa Cuts Down Foreign Tourists Visit

The erasing of a short visit visa (VoA) 7 days will affect travelers from visiting the target Asian markets, so that it needs to be preserved. If the Directorate of Immigration and Culture Tourism Ministry agreed to evaluate the policy after three months of enforced on January 26, 2010, the market reaction will be shifted to another country trip. Finally, Indonesia will only accept the results of the deterioration of the visit of the major markets of Asia like China, Japan, India and South Korea.  People who come from Asean to Indonesia do not need VoA, especially those who come to visit Bintan and Batam via Singapore. It is much more easier to have short visit foreign tourist than to have foreign tourists that stay for 30 days or more. Many trees that grow along side the streets in Malang are not in good condition. Those trees are dying from unidentified disease.  People are suspicious that the trees have been poisoned.  Some of the tress have already died. But until now, the Malang’s Dinas Kebersihan dan Pertamanan (DKP) has not cut them down. You can see died trees on Jalan Urip sumoharjo, Kauman, Kasin, and S. Soepriadi. Drs. Peni Suparto MAP, the Major of Malang, asks the citizen to be well aware of the dead tress. Due to the bad weather in Malang lately, he asks people not to park car or vehicles under the trees. It is important for the DKP to cut those dead tress immediately. It is also urgent to plant new trees replacing old and dead trees.
