No wonder that now Malang has grown into a big city. Many new city’s facilities are being built. And the citizens are getting familiar with modern lifestyle. But yet, we can still find many traditional ‘things’ in Malang. One of them is traditional Akik Stone (Hakeek Stone) Market on Majapahit Street. Majapahit Street is not so far from the city center. If you are already in front of Kayutangan Church , then you are just in front of it. Majapahit Street is on the right side of the church. There are about 35 Akik sellers that display their Akik stones in front of unoccupied shop’s parking lot. They sell kinds of Akik Stone and also diamonds, completed with the ring. They get the stones from other Indonesian cities, and sometimes from other countries. Like Jamrud (Colombia), Blue Safire (Burma and Australia), Silent (Srilanka), Giok (China) and Red Ruby (Africa). Gajahmada Graha Malang Hotel has luxurious ancient Roman and European architecture. It has 44 rooms in 3 floors building. You can find ballroom to hold a party. I took this photos of Kali Brantas three days ago. I was attending a gathering in one of my friend house. The house is located behind the Cor Jesu Elementary School – Malang. Kali Brantas is the biggest river in East Java. On rainy season, the water is a problem for Surabaya, but in dry season – as you can see here, the water is not that much.

This is the south west corner of Cor Jesu Malang. As a part of Dhira Bhakti Foundation, Cor Jesu has many schools, from kindergarten up to vocational school . The building on the left is belong to Cor Jesu Elementary School, while the building with orange wall is part of Cor Jesu Junior High School.
