Malang Lavalette Hospital Photos and History

Image
Malang Lavalette Hospital (PT. Perkebunan XXIV-XXV (Persero) Lavalette) was established on 09 December 1918 on the initiative of some owners of plantations of that time, that were gathered in a foundation namely "STICHTING MALANGSCHE ZIEKENVERPLEGING". Estimated that the early hospital was originally occupied a building in Kasin, Malang. In 1914 and 1917, the Foundation purchased 19,535 m2 rice field and 7870 m2 yard land in Celaket, Malang. On this land then the foundation built the building, and completed on December 09, 1918, with the name "LAVALETTE KLINIEK". The name is taken from the name of the Foundation Chairman, Mr G. Chr. Renardel de Lavalette, who had a big contribution to the establishment of this hospital. Given the ongoing deficit in the financial balance sheet, in 1948, members of the Foundation proposed to liquidate Lavalette Kliniek. Liquidation proposal was canceled with the various efforts to increase the foundation’s earning. Thos...

Malang City Major’s Office at Night Photo

Image
Nothing is special in this photo, but that it was taken when the sun had set. It was at about 6.30 in the evening. When I was on my way home from MOG, I stopped to take this City Major’s Office. The problem is my SE G502. Although it has 2 mega pixel camera, Sony Ericsson G502’s camera is very poor when it is used in low light condition, even if it is compared to Sony Ericsson K510i. I have refined this photo using Photoshop CS to reduce some grains that appear around the lamps’ light. It is not good enough I think. I do hope that you can enjoy this. Ramayana Malang Plaza Photo

Image
Ramayana Malang is one of plaza you can find in Malang. Malang Kabupaten’s alun-alun is surrounded by some Plazas. Sarinah Plaza is on the north, Ramayana is on the north east, and on the south east you’ll find Mitra 1 Plaza, Gajahmada Plaza, and Malang Plaza. I don’t really know why there are so many plazas on that small spot. I think 2 or 3 big stores is enough. Moreover, the plazas are not specialized to sell something, compared to THR in Surabaya, which is focused on cell phones and computers. But when I see the crowd inside those plazas, especially in Saturday nights, Sundays, and other holidays, I have no doubt that Malang’s people need more places to shop, hehe …. I’m not that shopaholic. It is really a hard time for me to accompany friends or relatives who want to go shopping in those plazas. Traditional market is more interesting. So, maybe that’s why I can not understand why Malang’s people need more than 5 plazas. Technorati Tags: Malang , Photos , Ramayana Plaza

Malang Public Library Photos

Image
Malang doesn’t want to be left behind by other big cities in Indonesia. It grows and develops like other major cities. The Malang Public Library is one of the proof. Its collection is quite able to fulfill people’s need of good reading materials. As you can see on these photos of Malang Public Library, the building is located at the very heart of Malang. Just right in front of it, you can see the Brawijaya Museum. The largest military and historical museum in East Java. About 300 meters to the east you’ll find Gajayana Stadium and MOG (Malang Olympic Garden). Ijen Street itself is up to now still known as the most favorite spot of tourism object in Malang. It is easy to be the member of the Public Library, but first, you must have an ID as a Malang citizen. People who are not –yet- having the ID are not allowed to be a member. But don’t worry, you still have the access to read the books, what you can not do is taking home the books. Completed with free wifi internet hotspot, ton...

The Edge of the Storm Photo

Image
It’s been a while I do not post anything on this blog. I’m a little bit busy with my other blog. Besides that, I feel like there’s nothing worth enough or suit to be posted in this Malang on Pics blog. This photo was taken on the north east part of Malang. I was waiting to have another sunset photo at that time. I just couldn’t wait a little longer. So I took this photo. I was not expecting this photo to be a good photo. When I watched it on my SE G502, I didn't see anything special on it. But when I took a deep look at it in my PC monitor, I was amazed by the clouds. Seems like it is an edge of a storm. So, I call this photo as “The Edge of The Storm.” Am I exaggerating? Please comment this title… You are free to grab this photo for you, of course if you think that it is worthy.
